Continuing Education Seminar
to Focus On Philanthropy

The Norfolk Foundation will present a
four-hour continuing legal education
program on September 29 for attorneys,
accountants and financial planners.
“Talking with Clients about
Philanthropy: A Case Study Approach,
Private Foundations, Community
Foundations and Supporting
Organizations” is sponsored by The
Community Tax Law Project. Underwriting
is provided by the Hampton Roads Tax
Forum.
The program will be held from 9 a.m. to
1:45 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Executive
Center at 5655 Greenwich Road in
Virginia Beach. The cost is $75, which
includes lunch. The registration
deadline is September 17. Approval for
continuing education credits is pending
for four hours of credit, including one
hour of ethics credit.
Featured speakers include attorney
William Gray of Hunton & Williams in
Richmond and Nan Edgerton, vice
president of development for The Norfolk
Foundation. Joining them on a panel
about ethical issues will be Alvin A.
Wall of Wall Einhorn & Chernitzer, P.C.
Kirkland M. Kelley of Kaufman & Canoles,
P.C., will moderate the panel.
The curriculum comes from a regional
effort of the Southeastern Council of
Foundations and its Lawyers and
Philanthropy Project to provide
continuing education on charitable
giving.
