Donor Services

As a partner in philanthropy, The Norfolk Foundation’s staff can help donors support their favorite charitable programs, identify and evaluate new giving opportunities and learn about current areas of need in their community.

Managing Your Fund

The Norfolk Foundation offers a variety of resources to help you manage your fund. Our staff is always available to answer questions about your fund, offer guidance on charitable giving decisions and connect you to community needs. If you have a donor advised fund or an organizational fund, you can access your fund online through DonorCentral.

Giving Ideas and Resources

Our newsletters and annual reports are excellent resources for learning about other donors' interests, contemporary issues, special initiatives and successful nonprofit programs in southeastern Virginia.

For national databases that provide information on local nonprofit organizations see the resources section of our website.

If you would like to add to your fund or learn about becoming a member of the Legacy Society for Hampton Roads, contact Nan Edgerton, vice president of development, nedgerton@norfolkfoundation.org.

The Legacy Society for Hampton Roads is an organization that honors people who have made arrangements for a future gift to The Norfolk Foundation.

Donor Highlight

Charles and Carolyn Plimpton
of Virginia Beach spent 26 years building their Hertz car rental franchise into the second largest one in the country. In 2000 they sold their Norfolk business to pursue their own interests, including helping nonprofit organizations in southeastern Virginia. The Plimptons created a donor advised fund with The Norfolk Foundation in 2001. One reason for choosing the Foundation was its staff members "who are dedicated to making a positive difference in the quality of life," Charles Plimpton says. He and his wife particularly enjoy the Foundation's Extra Wish program, which enables them to use their fund each year to meet the specific needs of area nonprofits.
