Be the best nonprofit staff or board person ever: Sign up for a one- or two-day class at the Academy for Nonprofit Excellence and learn new skills and expertise.

We sponsor the Academy with Tidewater Community College to provide low-cost, excellent classes in nonprofit management to people at convnient locations here in Hampton Roads.

Since 2005 nearly 950 people (representing more than 375 different nonprofits) have taken courses. More than 50 students have earned their Certificates in Nonprofit Management.

Who: People in Hampton Roads interested in developing better nonprofit management skills.

What: One- and two-day classes taught by experts to help people in the nonprofit field do their best work. Take enough classes and you can earn a Certificate in Nonprofit Management or a Certificate in Museum Management. There are both live classes and online classes available.

Where: Spring 2012 classes are scheduled for TCC's new Regional Workforce Development Center in Suffolk.

When: Classes are held throughout the year. See chart below for class dates.

Why: This is an excellent opportunity to learn from experts on ways to improve your skills in Nonprofit Management. It is also a great opportunity to forge valuable relationships with other nonprofit staff members.

How much? $60 for one-day classes; $85 for two-day courses. That includes all course materials as well as refreshments throughout the day.

Teachers are all experts in their fields, topics are timely and classes fill quickly so early registration is encouraged.
