Apply for a Grant

We have eight main ways nonprofit organizations working in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia can apply for grants. The links below provide information on how to apply -- including the actual application forms.

Community Grant Program
This is the largest category of grant funding we have available for nonprofits working primarily in South Hampton Roads. Through our Community Grant Program we award grants from our unrestricted and field of interest funds for:

  • Capital funding to build or renovate facilities
  • Renovations and equipment purchases
  • Seed funding for innovative projects

We award grants to support a strong, vibrant South Hampton Roads region in the areas of health and human services, education, arts and culture, civic engagement and environment. Grant applications are reviewed quarterly.

Green Building Planning Grants
Planning grants can help nonprofits research, plan and design green elements of a building. These grants can be used to fund initial design charrettes, integrated process review, modeling/life cycle costing and costs associated with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
