Apply for a Grant

The Norfolk Foundation has four ways nonprofit organizations can access Foundation funds. Click on the links below for information on how to apply.

Community Grant Program New Guidelines for 2008
Through its Community Grant Program the Foundation awards grants from its unrestricted and field of interest funds for:

  • Capital funding for buildings.

  • Renovations and equipment purchases.

  • Seed funding for innovative projects.

Grants are awarded to support a strong, vibrant South Hampton Roads region in the areas of Health and Human Services, Education, Arts and Culture, Civic Engagement, Environment and a new Green Building Initiative. For questions, contact Leigh Davis, director of program and donor services, at ldavis@norfolkfoundation.org.

Green Building Planning Grants New in 2008

Nonprofits can apply for planning grants to help them research, plan and design green elements of a building.  Planning grants may be used to fund initial design charrettes, integrated process review, modeling/life cycle costing and costs associated with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Click here for detail on applying for a planning grant.

For questions, contact Christine Morris, director of initiatives, at cmorris@norfolkfoundation.org
