E.K. Sloane Piano Fund Grants
Deadline:
May 1.
The Sloane Fund was established by Norfolk native Edwin K.
Sloane and activated after his death in 1997. He was an arts
patron who bestowed numerous pianos upon various arts
organizations and colleges during his lifetime.
The fund’s primary intent is to provide superior quality
pianos for concert or similar use for established, highly
professional, cultural organizations and educational
institutions whose primary purpose is to train professional
musicians. To warrant such an investment, organizations
should inspire a passion for classical music to a broad
segment of the public through quality public performance or
education of young people.
Secondarily, more modest pianos can be provided for other
public performance or professional needs, such as religious,
social welfare or educational organizations. Upright piano
and keyboard instruments can be provided for instructional
purposes or to non-professional performance groups as funding
is available.
Although organizations and institutions outside Virginia are
eligible to apply, strong preference is given to
organizations and institutions that serve residents of the
Hampton Roads area. Click here for a list of past Sloane Fund
grant recipients.
Applications are available on our website or by contacting
the Foundation office. Applications for the Sloane Fund are
reviewed once annually. The next deadline is May 1.
